The SFM story is one of sacrifice, perseverance, and determination.
Established in 1987, the company is family owned and run, and wholly West Australian. As a factory direct manufacturer and wholesaler, SFM has been able to serve many satisfied customers Australia wide.
Founded by Am and Ky Nguyen, the journey to opening the business starts from humble beginnings. Combining their respective skills, they were able to design, assemble, and sell their first piece of furniture – a Jarrah dining table. From there, SFM was born, and has since progressed on to be an industry leader. With contemporary designs, and a forward-thinking approach, the company has won multiple Furniture Industry Association of Australia (now ACFA) awards, as well as West Australian Furniture of the Year Awards, for crafting elegant, lifelong furniture and cabinetry.
Values
Since its inception, SFM puts quality above all else, with absolute priority placed on the selection of premium timber boards and our construction methodology. A strong focus is placed on sustainability, and specialised techniques have been developed in-house to promote the longevity of this invaluable resource. When working with local Marri & Jarrah, all timber is privately sourced from southern regions of WA – in most cases from farm owners wanting to clear their land.
Combined with a fastidious approach to every aspect of the manufacturing process, the final product is both functional and beautiful. A 10-year, structural warranty is also offered as standard.
Our commitment to customers, and to the quality of our very own product, is the foundation that SFM is built upon. Whether working with private clientele, retailers, interior designers, architects or builders, the ethos remains the same.
Company Operation
SFM operates out of a 2400 square meter, modern facility in Perth, combining both a showroom gallery and workshop at its premises, allowing a unique perspective and experience for visitors. We welcome the opportunity to not only showcase our products, but also the manufacturing in action, which is on display and viewable from the mezzanine level.
Our team consists of highly skilled, long standing members who have significant experience across the spectrum, specialising in their respective fields.
Working predominantly with locally sourced Marri and Jarrah timbers, both of which are native Western Australian hardwoods, SFM continues to create timeless pieces.
Alternate timbers, finishes and colours are also available, and the design team will happily advise the various options to best suit your application.
